50 years of Electronic Monitoring

It’s undeniable that increasingly compact, powerful electronic devices have become omnipresent in every aspect of our daily lives. Capitalizing on these same developments, monitoring manufacturers are continuously churning out smaller monitoring devices packed with new features, range, and improved accuracy.

This state of affairs was far from always the case though- in fact, the great-grandfather of what would become the modern monitoring bracelet was the brainchild of twin brothers Robert and Kirk Gable, who developed the original technology using surplus missile parts in the 1960’s. To learn more about the monitoring industries beginnings, I would recommend NPR’s special on the Gable brothers.
